  Udhyam Vyapaar   works with the often-unseen entrepreneurs chai shop at the corner, our istri walis (and wallahs), I am most proud of the understanding of this community built by the Udhyam Vyapaar team. The early results of enabling income uplift for 800+ entrepreneurs with simple interventions hold massive promise. The most magical story has been the journey of enabling istri-wallah entrepreneurs to move from Coal to LPG as a source of energy. This intervention has become a case study of Design Thinking-Deep Empathy for the customer, rapid Iterations based on feedback, leading to a monthly income uplift of upto 27% is just a trailer of what is possible.   The year started out being extremely cautious and worrisome for everyone, with concerns aplenty about how things would need to reshape themselves into what was the ‘new normal’. While the previous year had seen Udhyam make leaps and bounds both across Shiksha and Vyapaar, prospects seemed bleak in the wake of the first wave. Both streams evolved heavily around in-person and on-ground implementation. Given the pandemic, this entire mode of operation needed to be re-evaluated. While it took the teams awhile to re-orient and adapt, they did manage to do so with aplomb. Necessity truly is the mother of invention, and the team at Udhyam demonstrated that multiple times over in the last year Shiksha went on to sign seven government partnerships in addition to the existing two, to further scale their Entrepreneurial Mindsets program for the youth.   Looking at the immense potential in the Indian market, many inquisitive entrepreneurs came up with new product offering and services. As of 2022, there are 61,400+ recognized start-ups and 100 Unicorns, these contribute to 50% of India’s GDP and have been instrumental in providing employment opportunities in such testing times. However, many of these start-ups are founded by graduates from India’s top universities like IITs, IIMs or employees who have worked in multinational companies. The important question is what happens to those entrepreneurs who do not have the access to the best education, how will they harness their true potential. Udhyam Learning Foundation has taken up the responsibility to help these  nano-entrepreneurs  and the youth who do not have access to the best education develop an entrepreneurial mindset through the  Entrepreneurship Development Program .
